07 Nov Spotlight | Common Cause | The power of democracy is in the people
As anxieties surrounding the 2020 presidential election simmer, we look to spotlight the work of Common Cause, a non-partisan and solutions-based grassroots organization fighting to promote the democratic process, pushing the public to learn their options and encouraging every voter to have a say.
By working throughout all levels of community engagement, state and local, Common Cause aims to ensure that every eligible voter knows their rights and is empowered to have a say in creating the country they dream of. With the goal to “create open, honest, and accountable government that serves the public interest; promote equal rights, opportunity, and representation for all” Common Cause plays an important role in today’s social and political landscape.
Through a comprehensive pro-democracy agenda, Common Cause hosts programs to further its mission and empower the youth of today, such as Common Cause Student Action Alliance, a program providing students with civic education as well as leadership skills to be able to drive the democratic process at their schools and communities, returning the power back to the people.
