To celebrate health heroes getting us through the pandemic, Canadian shoe store, Fluevog Shoes developed the Dr. Henry special edition operettas. Dr. Bonnie Henry is the Provincial Health Officer for British Columbia, Canada and has been continually praised for her thoughtful and genuine guidance and communication of restrictions during the COVID-19 crisis. 

In an effort to highlight the importance of spotlighting role models who can lift community spirits during a time of chaos and uncertainty, John Fluevog launched the special edition shoe featuring Dr. Henry’s much-known phrase ‘Be Kind, Be Calm & Be Safe’ on the insole. To further the impact the special edition shoe would bring beyond just honoring a hero, Fluevog Shoes donated all pre-sale profits from the sale of this design to helping those in need via a partnership with Food Banks BC. 

The Dr. Henry special edition shoes sold out within 2 hours of their release and the brand was overwhelmed with unexpected customer excitement. Fluevog’s conscious choice of highlighting a public health officer as a steward and influencer promoted the importance of education during the pandemic, and  by donating profits to a provincial food bank, Fluevog demonstrated a high level of community involvement and support, two factors that brands have seen as beneficial during COVID-19.
