Spotlight | Airbnb | Free housing for frontline workers.

Frontline healthcare workers are putting their lives at risk every day during the COVID-19 pandemic, and they are doing it for us. While they continue to help people who are ill, it’s becoming more and more evident that we, the general public, need to help them do so.

Airbnb, a popular real estate vacation rental service, has taken an impactful approach in helping frontline healthcare workers. Early morning on March 26, Brian Chesky, Airbnb’s CEO, tweeted that the platform will provide housing for 100,000 COVID-19 responders around the world with the aim of reducing the need to commute to and from work and facilitate healthcare workers distancing from families as needed. All housing will be free or subsidized.

Using the tagline ‘We may be apart, but we’ll get through this together’, Airbnb has taken on the responsibility of helping those who are most valuable, yet facing the highest risk during these challenging times. This approach is beneficial to the public – former and future customers – and is a strong example of how to authentically build brand loyalty while helping those in need.
